A brief history of Bolehall Swifts Football Club
The football club was formed in 1953 and have always played their home games at the Rene Road Ground. The first competitive match was played in August 1961 against Tamworth Working Men’s Club.
Over the years the Rene Road Ground has seen many changes.
- In the mid seventies a sports and social club was formed.
- Ground facilities have evolved from very humble beginnings to now include purpose built changing facilities and 120 seats, all seated stand.
- Floodlights were installed in the 1980’s.
In the 1998-99 season the club reached the 2nd round of the FA Vase and in 2002 were winners of the Walsall Senior Cup.
In addition to a first team the Swifts also run teams ranging from junior level to an over 35 senior team.
